Draftsman – CNC Programming Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Draftsman with strong CNC programming expertise to create and optimise machining programs for a variety of components. The role involves translating engineering drawings and 3D models into efficient, high‑quality CNC code while supporting first‑piece setups.

Key responsibilities

• Develop CNC programs (3‑axis to 5‑axis) for new and rework parts using CAM software.
• Optimise tool paths, feeds, speeds and tooling selection to improve cycle time and surface finish.
• Interpret engineering prints, 3‑D models and customer drawings accurately.
• Collaborate with machinists during first‑piece setup and program proofing.
• Maintain program library, post‑processors and tooling documentation.
• Support continuous improvement of CNC programming standards across the shop.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of CNC programming experience in a job‑shop or production environment.
• Strong ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T.
• Capability to work independently and manage multiple jobs simultaneously.
• Preferred experience with 5‑axis programming.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Mastercam, Esprit or comparable CAM software.
• Expertise in CNC programming (3‑axis to 5‑axis).
• Tool‑path optimisation, feeds and speeds selection.
• Blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation.
