Full-time Bus Monitor

About the role

The Bus Monitor supports safe and orderly student transportation, working closely with the bus driver to ensure that children, including those with disabilities, board and alight the bus smoothly. This full‑time position is essential for maintaining a positive travel environment and enabling students to benefit fully from school programs.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct on the bus.
• Inspect transportation passes to prevent unauthorized travel.
• Help young or disabled students get on and off the bus safely.
• Ensure orderly boarding and alighting of all students.
• Document and report violations of the student code to the transportation supervisor and school principal.
• Collect and turn over personal items left on the bus to the school secretary.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation or designated superintendent.

Required profile

• High school diploma (or equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board).
• Ability to work effectively with children of various ages.
• Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, lift up to 40 lb, and perform other duties described in the physical demands.
• Good vision (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception) and hearing.
