Substitute Bus Driver – Immediate Opening

About the role

This position provides a temporary, on‑site driving solution for a school district, ensuring students receive safe and reliable transportation to and from school activities. The substitute bus driver will step in immediately to maintain continuity of service.

Key responsibilities

• Obey all traffic laws and mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
• Maintain discipline on the bus and report any undisciplined behavior to the appropriate authority.
• Keep the assigned bus clean and adhere to the scheduled routes and times.
• Conduct pre‑trip inspections for mechanical defects and report any failures or delays.
• Transport only authorized students and discharge them at approved stops.
• Provide responsible leadership during out‑of‑district trips.
• Report all accidents promptly and complete required documentation.
• Enforce regulations prohibiting smoking and eating on the bus.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s license and a bus driver’s license (or acceptable alternatives as determined by the Board or superintendent).
• Ability to follow traffic and safety regulations consistently.
• Strong sense of responsibility for student safety and vehicle upkeep.
• Non‑exempt FLSA status.
