Bus Monitor

About the role

The Bus Monitor supports the driver in providing safe, orderly transportation for students with disabilities. This position involves riding on school buses, assisting with boarding and alighting, and ensuring a supportive environment throughout each trip.

Key responsibilities

• Ride on designated school buses for up to 182 days per year.
• Assist the driver in loading, securing, and unloading students with disabilities.
• Operate safety and adaptive equipment as required.
• Monitor student behavior and intervene to maintain a calm, orderly atmosphere.
• Communicate effectively with the driver, students, and school staff.
• Follow written and verbal instructions related to routes, schedules, and safety protocols.

Required profile

• Ability to work well with children who have disabilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills for managing student behavior.
• Capability to understand and follow detailed instructions.
• No prior experience required.

Required skills

• Proficiency in operating safety and adaptive equipment used on school buses.
• Effective communication skills.
