Mechanic II – School Bus and District Vehicle Maintenance

About the role

The Mechanic II is responsible for daily minor and routine mechanical repairs to ensure safe and reliable operation of school buses and other district vehicles. The role includes completing assigned projects while following established procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily minor and routine mechanical repairs on school buses and district vehicles.
• Complete assigned maintenance projects and adhere to established safety and performance procedures.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; at least 21 years of age.
• Valid Texas Class B CDL with passenger (P) and school bus (S) endorsements, clean driving record, and ability to pass alcohol/drug testing and bus driver safety training.

Required skills

• Brake certification and basic computer skills.
• Ability to diagnose minor mechanical problems, operate repair tools and equipment, and visually inspect vehicles.
