Mechanical Design Engineer – Containerized Modular Products

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and optimisation of containerised modular products such as data centres, telecom base stations and power modules. The role combines structural engineering, close collaboration with electrical teams and support for product certification and launch.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise structural components including sheet‑metal parts, frame structures, mounting brackets and protective enclosures.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers on equipment layout, cable routing, connector placement and harness fixing.
• Produce 2D/3D drawings, exploded views and bill of materials for manufacturing.
• Oversee prototyping and fabrication processes (welding, bending, painting, assembly) to ensure manufacturability.
• Validate structural reliability – IP protection, strength analysis, lifting and transportation integrity.
• Troubleshoot structural issues such as interference, insufficient strength or impractical cable routing during assembly.
• Support documentation and technical assistance for UL, CE and ISO certifications.
• Assist with new product introduction, design changes and post‑release technical service.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Design, Mechatronics or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in structural design, preferably with containerised modular systems or industrial equipment.
• Familiarity with sheet metal, steel frames and aluminium profiles and their manufacturing techniques.
• Basic understanding of electrical wiring design, cable routing and harness fixing.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across departments.
• Proficiency in reading and writing English technical documents and standards.

Required skills

• SolidWorks, Creo or AutoCAD.
• PDM/PLM system usage.
• Design of sheet‑metal, steel and aluminium structures.
• Knowledge of IP protection, EMI shielding, thermal and anti‑seismic design (a plus).
• Familiarity with EPLAN or Zuken (preferred).
