Senior Ports and Shipping Specialist – Global Gateway Project

About the role

NTU International A/S is seeking a Senior Ports and Shipping Specialist to join the Global Gateway Transport and Urban Facility 2 project. The role will support technical, policy and investment activities across maritime and inland waterways sectors in partner countries, focusing on sustainable and resilient transport solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, prepare and implement maritime, port and inland waterways infrastructure projects.
• Conduct feasibility studies, technical assessments, project design reviews and investment analyses.
• Support port and logistics master planning, multimodal connectivity and integration.
• Advise on port infrastructure development, maritime transport services and inland waterways systems.
• Assist with procurement, tendering, implementation supervision, operation and maintenance planning.
• Promote sustainable maritime transport, port decarbonisation, energy efficiency and electrification of port operations.
• Guide green port infrastructure, circular‑economy approaches and environmental performance.
• Integrate climate‑resilience, disaster‑risk reduction and sustainability considerations into maritime projects.
• Contribute to policy, regulatory and institutional reforms and build capacity of public and port authorities.
• Coordinate stakeholders including IFIs, development partners and private operators.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in maritime engineering, maritime sciences, port engineering, transport or a related field.
• Extensive experience in maritime and port infrastructure development, preferably in international or development contexts.
• Proven ability to lead feasibility studies, technical assessments and investment analyses.
• Strong knowledge of sustainable transport, decarbonisation and climate‑resilience measures.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder coordination and capacity‑building activities.
