Senior Editor - Pharmaceutical Advertising

About the role

The Senior Editor works in the Editorial Department of a pharmaceutical advertising agency, remotely and full-time. The role represents the department in internal meetings, reviews creative briefs, estimates and timelines, manages assigned accounts and launches with minimal supervision, and mentors new hires on pharmaceutical advertising mandates.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the Editorial Department in status meetings and kick-offs, negotiating on its behalf
• Edit and fact-check copy according to Client, Brand and AMA style, and review the work of other editors
• Fact-check all claims, ensure citations are styled correctly and run consistency checks between derivative pieces and core pieces
• Use the Editorial and Fact-Check Checklists and perform the required reads at each stage of a project
• Keep clients, brands and AMA style in line with Agency processes and FDA guidelines, and flag campaign inconsistencies
• Mentor new hires on pharmaceutical advertising mandates, client and agency processes, brand knowledge and team roles
• Contribute to training modules on eRouting best practices, permissions and client submission processes
• Support colleagues with heavy workloads and follow a rotating nightly and weekend schedule
• Keep supervisors informed of workload, timing and other issues, and maintain accurate daily timesheets

Required profile

• College degree, preferably in English, Journalism or Communications
• 3 to 5 years of editing experience in a pharmaceutical advertising agency or a medical publishing house
• Interest in the healthcare industry and the science of pharmaceuticals
• Detail-oriented, organized, with strong language, grammar and communication skills
• Able to prioritize multiple projects and accounts and to enforce Agency guidelines with direct reports

Required skills

• Superior editing skills and knowledge of AMA style
• Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and MS Office
