Offshore Incident Commander (Oil Spill Response)

About the role

The Offshore Incident Commander will lead oil spill and environmental emergency response operations for KOTUG in the Congo offshore and port areas. This hands‑on marine professional will coordinate teams, equipment and vessels to protect the marine environment and ensure safe, effective incident management.

Key responsibilities

• Lead response actions during oil spill and environmental incidents.
• Coordinate deployment of response equipment, vessels and personnel.
• Oversee safe execution of containment, recovery and cleanup operations.
• Liaise with clients, port authorities and government agencies throughout incidents.
• Maintain readiness of oil spill response equipment and participate in drills.
• Develop, implement and support contingency plans.
• Prepare incident reports and capture lessons learned.
• Ensure compliance with company HSEQ procedures.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Marine, Nautical, Engineering, Environmental Studies or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in marine/offshore operations, emergency response or oil spill response.
• Proven experience leading operational teams.
• Strong understanding of marine safety and environmental protection.
• Fluent in English.
