Food and Beverage Manager

About the role

Kempinski is hiring a Food and Beverage Manager for its hotel in Brazzaville, Congo. The post leads the department's operations, quality, sales and talent development, and reports to the General Manager. It is a permanent, full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with hotel rules, fire and safety regulations, hygiene rules and HACCP, and keep costs in line with sales while maintaining quality (minimum 85% LQA score).
• Drive sales to the department's full potential, prepare the yearly budget with Finance, and prepare monthly income statements for each outlet and the department.
• Source quality products, build supplier partnerships and monitor quality and guest satisfaction with Leading Quality Assurance and customer surveys; handle guest complaints promptly and courteously.
• Oversee services at least once a week (breakfast, lunch, dinner, lobby, banqueting, room service, bar) and conduct daily operations briefings with the Executive Chef and daily or weekly F&B meetings.
• Develop a yearly marketing plan with Sales & Marketing, including competitor analysis of local outlets and restaurants, and review global trends through media and trade shows.
• Manage talent: identify internal and external talents, support career development, run annual performance appraisals, and maintain a succession plan.
• Act as the main contact for the Corporate Food & Beverage Team, implement corporate policies and attend corporate calls and events.
• Assume executive duties as assigned by the General Manager and act as duty manager when required.

Required profile

• At least three years in an F&B management role, preferably with a 5-star hotel chain and ideally with a successful standalone F&B operation.
• Excellent spoken and written French and English.
• Ability to work independently, thrive under pressure and solve problems proactively.
• Good organisational and time management skills, and strong relationships with staff, clients and vendors.
