EU-Africa Space Policy & Institutional Expert (Non-Key)

About the role

The European Union and African partners are launching the “Support to the Africa‑EU Space Partnership Programme – AESPP Boost” to deepen collaboration in the space sector. We are looking for a seasoned EU‑Africa Space Policy & Institutional Expert to drive policy dialogue, strengthen institutional links and ensure effective programme governance across Europe and Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate policy discussions and coordination between EU and African Union space agencies and related bodies.
• Support the design, implementation and monitoring of joint governance mechanisms and steering committees.
• Provide expert advice on EU space policy, African space governance architecture (AfSA, AUC, RECs) and related regulatory frameworks.
• Identify opportunities for private‑sector engagement, innovation and investment within the partnership.
• Prepare briefing notes, reports and recommendations for senior stakeholders.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in international relations, public policy, law, political science, space policy or a related discipline.
• Minimum eight years of professional experience in international cooperation, public policy or institutional advisory work.
• At least four years of experience working with EU and/or African Union policy frameworks and programme governance.
• Excellent command of English; working knowledge of French and/or Portuguese is an asset.

• Proven ability to manage inter‑institutional dialogue and steering mechanisms.
• Strong analytical and report‑writing capabilities.
