Stakeholder Relations Manager – Environmental NGOs

About the role

The Stakeholder Relations Manager will lead the development and management of strategic relationships with international environmental NGOs. This role ensures alignment with the organization’s sustainability, climate, biodiversity, and environmental‑justice commitments while creating collaboration opportunities at global and regional levels.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a stakeholder engagement approach focused on prioritized international NGOs.
• Map, prioritize and maintain relationships with key NGOs across bioeconomy, climate, conservation, biodiversity and environmental‑justice agendas.
• Act as the primary liaison for selected NGO partners, ensuring transparent and constructive dialogue.
• Identify and nurture long‑term, trust‑based partnerships, joint initiatives and thought‑leadership opportunities.
• Monitor NGO positions, campaigns and policy priorities; provide strategic advice and briefings to senior leadership.
• Support the organization’s input into environmental policy debates and multistakeholder forums.
• Coordinate with internal FSC teams to align messaging, share insights and manage crisis response related to NGO scrutiny.
• Track engagement outcomes, risks and opportunities using defined metrics and reporting frameworks.

Required profile

• Strong stakeholder‑management experience in complex, values‑driven environments.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage credibly with NGO leaders and senior internal stakeholders.
• Sound judgement, diplomatic approach and ability to handle sensitive or high‑risk relationships.
• Analytical mindset to monitor NGO activities and translate insights into strategic recommendations.
