Site and Research Manager

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Site and Research Manager to lead research and monitoring activities at the Mondika field site in Nouabalé‑Ndoki National Park, and to coordinate tourism activities with the Tourist Manager. The role requires a strong scientific background, conservation passion, and the ability to work in a remote tropical forest environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise implementation of research protocols, coordinate fieldwork of all research teams, and participate in daily gorilla follows and habituation.
• Oversee data collection (behavioral observations, health monitoring, meteorology, SMART, Cybertracker) and ensure data reliability and standardisation across sites.
• Manage staff schedules, logistics, monthly site reports, and communication with project directors, tourism managers and partners.
• Maintain camp facilities, food stocks, equipment care, and minimise tourist impact on the research site.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Biological Sciences or extensive relevant conservation field research experience.
• Fluency in French and English (oral and written).
• Proven experience managing a remote field site, staff supervision and project reporting.
• Physical fitness for tropical forest work and ability to live in isolated camps with limited utilities.

• Field tracking and navigation with GPS and compass.
• Use of Animal Observer App, Cybertracker, camera traps.
• Wilderness first‑aid training (preferred).
