Maritime IT & Satcoms Field Service Technician (Pointe Noir)

About the role

As a Maritime IT & Satcoms Field Service Technician you will deliver on‑site technical support and installation services for satellite communication and IT systems aboard commercial vessels and offshore assets in the Congo Republic.

You will work closely with NOC teams and vessel agents to ensure reliable connectivity and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Install, commission and upgrade VSAT systems (C/Ku/Ka‑band), Starlink and L‑band terminals such as FleetBroadband and Iridium Certus.
• Integrate onboard IT infrastructure including LAN/WAN setup, IP networking, VLANs, VPNs, firewall configuration and cybersecurity checks.
• Provide hands‑on support for routers, switches, servers, Wi‑Fi access points and IoT maritime equipment.
• Collaborate with NOC and remote engineering teams to diagnose and resolve connectivity and performance issues.
• Conduct site surveys, produce service reports, handover documents and technical documentation following company standards.
• Coordinate travel, tools and spare parts with vessel agents, ship operators and logistics teams.
• Deliver customer training and onboard support during system handover.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in field engineering or maritime IT support.
• Strong knowledge of maritime VSAT, L‑band and hybrid satellite systems.
• Understanding of TCP/IP networking, VLANs, VPNs and cybersecurity best practices.
• Familiarity with IMO and ISPS regulations and typical onboard IT environments.
• Fluent English; additional languages such as French, Spanish or Arabic are a plus.
• Valid seafarer’s medical (ENG 1 or equivalent) and ability to travel globally on short notice.
