Head of Legal (Remote)

About the role

Social Discovery Group (SDG) is a group of social discovery companies whose products help people connect online across cultures and regions. It is looking for a Head of Legal to lead legal strategy, compliance and risk management for its international holding company. The position is full-time and remote.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and mitigate legal risks linked to contracts, intellectual property, employment, litigation and other exposures
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations and corporate governance in every jurisdiction where the company operates, and monitor legislative changes
• Protect intellectual property rights (patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets) and address potential infringements
• Develop and run a legal strategy aligned with the company's long-term goals, including opening new entities with mitigated legal risks
• Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements, coordinate external audits and work with legal and compliance teams on regulatory adherence

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in a CLO/VP Legal position in international companies
• English at B2+ level, with fluency in Russian
• Knowledge of business law, contract law, employment law, intellectual property law and industry regulations
• Ability to manage legal disputes and litigation, and to work with external counsel
• Risk management skills and familiarity with financial software, ERP systems and data analytics tools
