Media Intelligence Officer

About the role

The World Health Organization African Regional Office (WHO AFRO) is looking for a Media Intelligence Officer to strengthen strategic communications, media relations and digital engagement for the Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) Cluster across Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Create and disseminate high‑impact communication materials such as speeches, briefing notes, newsletters, press releases, reports and success stories.
• Develop engaging web, social media, advocacy and donor‑communication content, and support risk communication during health emergencies.
• Implement visibility and advocacy strategies, prepare executive communications, presentations and stakeholder‑engagement materials.
• Coordinate with WHO communications teams, build relationships with media outlets, donors, partners and member states, and monitor media coverage and communication risks.
• Manage WHO EPR social media channels (X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook), schedule content, track analytics and increase audience engagement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in communications, public relations, media or related areas.
• Excellent writing, editing and storytelling abilities.
• Strong stakeholder‑engagement, organisational and networking skills.
• Fluent English; working knowledge of French is an asset.

• Proficiency in MS Office.
