Maritime IT & Satcoms Field Service Technician (Pointe Noir, Congo)

About the role

Global Satcoms is seeking an experienced Maritime IT & Satcoms Field Service Technician to deliver on‑site technical support for vessels and offshore assets in the Congo Republic. You will install, commission, maintain and troubleshoot satellite communication and IT systems aboard commercial ships and platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Perform field installations, upgrades and commissioning of VSAT systems (C/Ku/Ka‑band), Starlink and L‑band terminals such as FleetBroadband and Iridium Certus.
• Integrate onboard LAN/WAN networks, configure IP routing, VLANs, VPNs and firewalls while ensuring cybersecurity compliance.
• Provide hands‑on support for routers, switches, servers, Wi‑Fi access points and IoT maritime equipment.
• Collaborate with NOC and remote engineering teams to diagnose connectivity and performance issues.
• Conduct site surveys, produce service reports, handover documents and technical documentation following company standards.
• Adhere to safety protocols and client‑specific requirements during all onboard interventions.
• Coordinate travel, tools and spare parts with vessel agents, ship operators and logistics teams.
• Deliver customer training and onboard support during system handover when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of field engineering or maritime IT support experience.
• Strong knowledge of maritime VSAT, L‑band and hybrid satellite systems.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, VLANs, VPNs and cybersecurity best practices.
• Familiarity with IMO and ISPS regulations and typical onboard IT environments.
• Ability to read technical diagrams and system schematics.
• Fluent English; additional languages (Spanish, French, Arabic) are a plus.
• Valid seafarer’s medical (ENG1 or equivalent) and willingness to travel globally on short notice.
