Remote Medical Coder – Hospital Coding Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a highly meticulous and experienced Remote Medical Coder to join our dynamic healthcare team. The specialist will work remotely, reviewing complex patient records and assigning accurate diagnostic and procedural codes in compliance with US or UK coding standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyze patient medical records, including operative reports, discharge summaries, and outpatient notes to assign appropriate ICD‑10, CPT, HCPCS, OPCS‑4, or SNOMED CT codes.
• Ensure all coding complies with federal, state, NHS, and payer‑specific guidelines for accurate revenue cycle management.
• Identify documentation discrepancies, query physicians or clinical staff for clarification, and resolve claim denials.
• Maintain high coding accuracy, participate in audits, and uphold data integrity.
• Stay current with coding guideline changes and compliance regulations.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of hospital medical coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
• Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (e.g., CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) for US, or recognized UK equivalent.
• Strong command of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
• Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web, or SystmOne.
• Reliable computer (Windows 10/11 or macOS 12+), high‑speed internet, and a verified backup power supply.
