About the role
WHO Regional Office for Africa is looking for a Multimedia Communication Officer to strengthen its communications portfolio. The role will produce high‑quality audiovisual and digital content that showcases WHO’s public‑health initiatives across the continent.
Key responsibilities
- Record interviews, leadership messages, events and public‑health content using cameras, microphones, lighting and teleprompters.
- Support studio, field, remote, virtual and hybrid productions while maintaining high standards of image and sound quality.
- Edit institutional videos, documentaries, event highlights and social‑media clips; add subtitles, captions, graphics, branding and motion graphics.
- Create platform‑specific video adaptations for YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, X and other digital channels.
- Translate complex public‑health information into visual storyboards, scripts, infographics and other campaign materials.
- Design video thumbnails, quote cards and other digital assets in line with WHO branding and accessibility standards.
- Maintain the audiovisual studio, manage equipment inventories and archive project files securely.
- Coordinate production schedules with communication officers, technical experts, translators, photographers and external vendors.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, International Relations or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in video production and editing.
- Proven experience operating cameras, microphones, lighting equipment and audiovisual systems.
- Experience creating content for digital and social‑media platforms.
- Fluent in English and French.
- Professional portfolio demonstrating relevant work.
